Laker Shuts Out Vassar, 36-0

Vulcans struggle to find the end zone despite 135 combined rushing yards from Blake Karr and Madix Gorleski

VASSAR — The Vassar varsity football team was unable to get its offense going Friday night as the Vulcans fell to Laker, 36-0.

Vassar found some success on the ground behind Blake Karr and Madix Gorleski, but the Vulcans were unable to turn those yards into points against the Laker defense.

Karr led Vassar's rushing attack with 88 yards on 15 carries, averaging nearly six yards per attempt. Gorleski added 47 yards on 14 carries, giving the duo 135 rushing yards on the night.

Through the air, Gorleski completed 10 of 24 passes for 79 yards. Gaven Kilgore emerged as his leading target, hauling in five passes for 58 yards, accounting for the majority of Vassar's passing production.

Laker's defense ultimately kept Vassar off the scoreboard, handing the Vulcans their first shutout loss of the season.

Defensively, Carmelo Poe led the Vulcans with 10 tackles. Karr contributed seven tackles to go along with his team-leading rushing performance, while Gorleski finished with four tackles.

Vassar will look to bounce back next week when the Vulcans return home to face Ubly for Homecoming.
